March 13, 1940 – May 24, 2025

Janet “Jan” L. Gibson, 85, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with her children by her side at Brandywine Assisted Living in Fenwick Island, Delaware.

Born on March 13, 1940, in the Town of Evans, New York, to the late Robert and Grace Pfohl, Jan lived a life filled with creativity, community, and deep devotion to her family.

She was a passionate supporter of the arts and nature. Jan was a former member of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Textile Art Alliance, Painesville Art Gallery, Artful Hands Studio, Spinners & Weavers of the Western Reserve, the Holden Arboretum, and the Mentor Senior Center. She was also a proud member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.

Jan is survived by her children, Tammy Gibson-Caldwell and Les (Susan) Gibson; her grandchildren, Jacob (Mollie) Caldwell, Matthew Caldwell, Douglas Gibson, and Charles (Meg) Gibson; and her great-grandchildren, Joey Caldwell and Mac Gibson. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert (late Emily) Pfohl; her sister-in-law, Janet (Gibson) (late David) Adams; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Les “Gib” Gibson Jr., and her siblings, John Ovak, Clayton Ovak, and Marjorie (Bill) Ovak-Joyce.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held July 17, 2025 (Time TBA) at Latimore Schiavone Funeral Home, Inc. in Angola, New York.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan’s memory to a charity of your choice.
