Leslie “Gib” Gibson Jr.

Leslie “Gib” Gibson Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. A longtime resident of Mentor, Ohio, Gib was born on January 29, 1937, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Leslie Gibson Sr. and Amelia (Petrina) Gibson.

Gib proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a dedicated professional, serving as president of the AWS Society of Cleveland. He was a man of many talents and interests, especially enjoying time spent traveling with family and friends, woodworking, photography, golfing, bowling, and fishing.

He was survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janet (Pfohl) Gibson; his children, Tammy Gibson-Caldwell and Les (Susan) Gibson III; his grandchildren, Jacob Caldwell, Matthew Caldwell, Douglas Gibson, and Charlie (Meg) Gibson; his sister, Janet (Gibson) Adams; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Gib was preceded in death by his brother, William Gibson.

A celebration of Gib’s and Janet's life will be held on July 17, 2025, from 10-12 PM at Latimore Schiavone Funeral Home, Inc. 8434 N. Main St. Angola, NY with graveside service immediately following at Brant Cemetery, Brant, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Gib by spending time with loved ones, sharing a story, casting a fishing line, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in nature—just as he would have.
